Important InformationInstallationDo not install Period Embossed tiles directly onto wet cement or sand and cement. It is recommended that a suitable adhesive is used. Sealing JointsPeriod Embossed tiles installed into wet areas such as shower cubicles, wet rooms, bathrooms and kitchens should have the grout joints accurately sealed with an impervious water proof grout such as BAL Supergrout or an epoxy based grout. All joints must be completely watertight to eliminate any water being absorbed into the tile body since moisture can be absorbed causing stains to show under the glaze. Shade VariationsColour shade variation is an inherent characteristic of true Victorian Glazes and tiles must be selected in good light to ensure even distribution of such shade variations. ScratchingVictorian glazed Period Embossed tiles are only suitable for wall applications and due to the delicate nature of these translucent glazes are subject to surface wear or scratching over a period of time. It is important to ascertain the correct tile for any given application. Victorian glazed tiles are not suitable for areas subject to heavy use. CrazingHighly glazed translucent glazes may craze in time and no guarantee can be given against this. MeasurementsAll measurements given are nominal as stated in our catalogues etc. MaintenanceIdeally Period Embossed tiles should be cleaned with clean water and/or a neutral detergent, under no circumstance use acidic or alkaline products. Wet tiles must be dried and buffed with a clean dry duster. Some Victorian glazes such as Victorian Green, Jade Green, Bluebell and Midnight Blue, which have a copper based glaze are prone to discolouration by mild acids often found in domestic products. To avoid any discolouration they must be cleaned only with pure water and wiped dry immediately after cleaning. These tiles should never be used in wet areas such as showers, basin splash backs or bath surrounds.
